IMdB:Satoko's Father has an affair with her maid, Tadeshina, and tells her that before Satoko gets married she is to have one night with a man she really loves, who thus plots revenge. Years later Kiyoaki falls in love with Satoko but after a fight he ceases all contact with her. Satoko gets engaged with a member of the royal family. Upon finding out about it, Kiyoaki extorts romantic meetings with Satoko from Tadeshina by threatening her to show love letters he received from Satoko to her parents and inform them that Tadeshina knew about it. Satoko gets pregnant, Tadeshina promises to help but instead fakes a suicide attempt in order to exact her revenge on the Ayakura family. Now aware of Satoko's and Kiyoaki's affair and Satoko'S pregnancy, the Ayakura and the Matsugae family decide to have Satoko abort her baby in secret. Thereupon Satoko decides to become a nun. She promises the head nun that she wouldn't see Kiyoaki ever again; Who pursues her after he reads about her whereabouts in the papers. Being hold up at the doors of the monastery where Satoko resides, he remains there until he gets seriously sick. On his way back home he succumbs to his illness, never having seen Satoko again.

　　大正时代，出身贵族的松枝侯爵家嗣子松枝清显（妻夫木聪饰演），对青梅竹马的绫仓伯爵家的掌上明珠聪子（竹内结子饰演）情有独钟，但清显一直没有勇气向她表白，反而笨拙地示爱或者伤害，甚至因为误会中断联系。然而由于贵族彼此间的复杂考虑，聪子和治典殿下订了家族婚事，清显这才发现他对聪子的爱无法自拔，通过多方设法，使两人得以私下偷会，但恰恰这样的行为反让这对情侣都陷入绝望的苦恋而无法自拔，已是他人未婚妻的聪子怀孕后，真相无法掩藏，他们走向了爱情的尽头。
