由五届格林美得主Cookie Marenco所创办的Blue Coast Records，是一所以美国加州为根据地，经营发烧靚录音的蚊型厂牌，最新作品是一张名为Blue Coast Collection的发烧精选，碟内十二首曲目均以瑞士Studer A800 MK III 2吋24声轨模拟母带机进行灌录，监听器材除了 David Manley度身订造的极品前级之外，还有历史悠久的法国 JMR扬声器和纯银接驳线材，再配合只此一家，简称E.S.E.的伸延声音环境处理技术，令音场立体感大大提升。务求保持原汁原味，Cookie强调所有曲目并没有借助先进电脑程式加人任何程度的音效，旨在让听眾可以全面感受到录音现场的真实情况，换言之我们所欣赏到的拍案叫绝音响效果，全是录音师在拾音咪摆位方面所付出的努力。整个制版过程均要经过Cookie和JMR扬声器创办人Jean Marie Reynaud的女儿Jean Claude Reynaud亲自核实，确保音效水平达到最高指标，才能正式压碟投产。

蓝岸精选SACD 本年度发烧话题作
「蓝岸唱片」(Blue Coast Records) 是一个美国新晋的发烧厂牌，其录音制品宗旨完全是为发烧市场而设，针对极度发烧的乐迷，所以定价奇贵，美国零售价钱是40美元，但依然好评满载。事实上，这一张「蓝岸精选」SACD收录的12首作品，除了具备顶尖级发烧录音质素外，其音乐的内容和可听性也同样达到非常「好听」的层次，香港的发烧音乐品牌代理CNA经过慎重考虑后，决定将「蓝岸」代理权取到手，首先登陆东南亚区。笔者聆赏过整张「蓝岸精选」后，也被无穷音乐韵味和高尖录音质素所倾迷，敢说此碟绝对属「本年度最大发烧话题杰作」兼笔者「年度5大」。

她是Blue Coast Records 的品牌创办人，也是美国音乐业界公认的杰出制作人，资历超过20年，擅长统筹、监制和音响效果监修，属於鲜有兼具高品质音响和音响制作的人，更曾获5度Grammy (格林美)提名。本地发烧友可能对她的名字感觉陌生，但是只要知道她是80年代Windham Hill Records 黄金期出品的幕后功臣，理应明白笔者为何对她制作的录音刮目相看了，还有，她曾为Lady Back Mambazo、Turtle Island String Quartet及Alex Di Grassi 等人监制，亦为 Mary Chapin Carpenter、Praxis、Charlie Haden's Quartet West 以至Max Roach 等乐手的录音作音乐响效果监修。 Cookie Marenco 制作理念是「好的作品必须同时兼具音乐艺术热情与高品质之音响工程技术。」

此君来头绝对不少。他是高级音响名牌Jean Marie Reynaud之子，现任JMR公司出口部经理。他自幼受发烧至今，不仅是一位尃业音响录音师，更对音乐重播有著丰富的家学滔渊源与经验。
E.S.E.录音技术
「蓝岸精选」SACD是以自家研制的E.S.E.录制技术全名是 Extended sound Environment，「展延声效环境」来录制，融合最新的5.1声道架构技术、以ITU佈局方式摆设及录音空间音响学处理。以5支DPA或B&K 4003等多种不同的拾音器直接收音Millennia 8 声轨的HV-3D咪前级等，採Studer A-800首先录成2吋模拟原母带，DSD制作多声道，而立体声部份则过落半吋模拟母带，制作母盘。整个录制过程不使用监听耳机，不加任何Overdubs，也不使用任何数码音效，两声及多声道扬声器来现场收听，同时採用JMR HP.216鑑听级银接线材接驳，即是一take过现场录制，现场真实环境实时实地鑑听，完全掌握到最真实最自然凡录音面貌。
Hybrid SACD 有5.1多声道效果，12首acoustic乐器弹奏的民谣蓝调式中慢板歌曲吸引力巨大，满有听Joan Baez、Clapton 或是Muddy Water 的感觉，录音精彩靚声到不得了，首批限量附送「蓝岸」美国样板CD，售罄即止。

Blue Coast sets a new standard in Audio excellence with the Blue Coast Collection. This award winning collection of songs has been recognized by audiophiles and casual listeners for its sonic precision combined with passionate musical performances. Performed in the studio without the use of headphones, overdubs or digital effects, these sessions led to a proprietary recording technique called Extended Sound Environment (E.S.E.), which creates a holographic sensation for both surround and stereo recordings through microphone placement and allows the musicians a more dynamic performance. Label founder, and five time Grammy nominated producer/engineer Cookie Marenco, assembled a cast of world-class performers, engineers and technicians familiar with her passion for audio excellence and appreciation of skilled musicianship. Done in DSD, the sound take uses E.S.E. technology, a patented technique Cookie Marenco developed with Jean-Claude Reynaud. B&K microphones, silver audio cables specially created for these sessions, and a sound take excluding all digital tricks and awkward phase rotations produce a truth of restitution that stands out of the ordinary. On this disc, Blue Coast are in direct contact with great artists. Voices are sublime, the authenticity of the guitars is amazing and the standing bass in the finale is even more astounding.
Exceptional acoustic recording! Blue Coast Records recorded the original tracks with a surround listening experience in mind. They were recorded, monitored and mixed for 5.1 ITU configuration and may also be enjoyed on traditional surround systems and stereo CD players.
The music was recorded to 2" tape using Dolby SR. The surround version was mixed to Direct Stream Digital on the Sonoma System. The stereo layers were mixed to 1/2" tape. During the recording a Jean Marie Reynaud Offrande surround speaker system was used for monitoring with JMR silver cable wiring throughout recording and playback systems. Microphones from Didrik DeGeer and DPA/B&K were used with preamps by Millennia, Manley and Didrik.
A combination of direct and room mic placements contribute to the Extended Sound Environment (E.S.E.) recording technique enhancing both the surround and stereo listening experience.
