　　雷诺兹饰演的父亲马修开车回家，女儿卡桑德拉坐在后座。马修停车进了一家馅饼店买晚餐，片刻之后回到车上，却发现女儿失了踪。“女儿在哪儿”的悬念已设定，空茫无人的茫茫雪原渲染了悬疑不安的气氛，故事情节随即层层展开。 
　　根据官方剧情介绍，女儿的失踪让马修与妻子蒂娜（米瑞·伊诺丝饰）的关系急转直下，蒂娜无法忘记女儿，怀疑绑架与丈夫有关。多年之后，警官妮可（罗莎里奥·道森饰）在网络上发现了卡桑德拉的照片，马修遂不顾一切要找回女儿，挽救绝望的妻子和两人的婚姻。
