挪威在90年代初期的时候有多少人知道那里有Black Metal，时至今日越来越多的人开始关注那里，但挪威的“著名”乐队们却在纷纷讨好听众，到底是乐迷左右了乐队，还是乐队控制了乐迷，只有每一个人自己知道。Urgehal 是一支成立于1992年，但今天还依然“地下”的挪威乐队，音色粗砺，混乱的，传统黑暗金属乐队。专辑创作于1995年，录制于1996年，发表于 1997年，参与录制专辑的依然是标准3人阵容（好象优秀的黑暗金属乐队都是3个人，人越多越糟糕）。音乐一听是非常典型的老挪威式创作法，典型的 Darkthrone式鼓点儿，以及暗藏其中的吉他旋律，吉他以及各种音色在音乐中的表现力和比例都是很老套的那种。

Urgehal – Massive Terrestrial Strike (1998 by No Colors Records)
这是他们的第二张专辑，乐队阵容中缺少了鼓手，新加入了节奏吉他手Mr.T. L. Messiah，这一次录音质量好了很多。这次专辑的变化是加入了很多Thrash Metal和氛围化，音乐已经脱离了老式的挪威黑暗金属，给人的感觉是介于老式死亡和黑暗金属之间。依然是非常原始的感觉，只有3个人，没有键盘，但是有一些用粗糙吉他营造的氛围，情绪非常吸引人。有一些曲目除去嗓音以外简直就是Thrash Metal，是全专辑的亮点！不过这可能不适合新派黑暗金属乐迷。Supreme Evil、Image Of The Horned King 和Apocalyptic Destruction都是非常不错的作品。

Urgehal离开了No Colours，新加入了鼓手Uruz，这是近几年黑暗金属作品中非常优秀的鼓手，并不是他有如何过人的速度或者手法，因为前人已经很难超越，但是他的对于黑暗金属的各种表现力以及仿佛无穷尽的能量正是War Battery的合适描述。这一次他们依然延续了过去那种毫不妥协的风格，他们其实更多是一支Thrash Metal乐队，并使自己的Thrash Metal更加粗野和黑暗。专辑中有两首翻唱自Kreator 和Sepultura的早期作品，看得出他们对80年代Thrash Metal的钟爱。
